Amorim signs for Milan as Juventus restart under Carnevali

Milan have their man: Ruben Amorim has signed the contract tying him to the Rossoneri until 2028, while the club closes in on Markus Krösche as new technical director. It was a busy day for Juventus too, where Giovanni Carnevali took over as managing director and immediately reshaped the transfer strategy, with Roma and several Liga and Premier League heavyweights also in full swing.

The story of the day comes from Milanello: Ruben Amorim has signed the contract making him Milan's new head coach. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, relayed by Calciomercato.com, the agreement is a two-year deal with an option through 2028, and the Portuguese has landed in Italy to put pen to paper. In parallel, the club is pushing for a technical director: there is an agreement with Markus Krösche, with only Eintracht Frankfurt's green light still awaited. There has been some scepticism — Fabio Capello called it a «leap into the void» — but Milan have already begun planning Amorim's side, from the back three to Pulisic's new role.

On to Juventus. Giovanni Carnevali spent his first day as the club's managing director and, Calciomercato.com reports, immediately changed course, effectively scrapping the market previously set up by Comolli and overhauling the scouting department. On the pitch, the Bianconeri keep working on a goalkeeper: the trail leading to Emiliano «Dibu» Martinez, on his way out of Aston Villa, is gaining ground. Andrea Cambiaso's position is more uncertain, with Barcelona and Chelsea both keen.

Roma are moving decisively, especially up front. The Giallorossi have wrapped up winger Bobby Malen, arriving from Borussia Dortmund, and are well advanced for Mason Greenwood from Marseille and Zaragoza from Bayern Munich. West Ham's Summerville remains a target in the background. On the way out, Manu Koné could leave: according to Calciomercato.com, Arsenal have accelerated and reportedly already have an agreement with the player, while Roma value their midfielder at 50 million.

Inter, with six players at the World Cup and the rest of the squad on holiday, are focused mainly on midfield. The hot name is Liverpool's Curtis Jones: Calciomercato.com reports the Nerazzurri are ready to raise their offer to convince the Reds. Their «extra-large» midfield blueprint also includes Giorgio Palestra and Stankovic, while the summit between Cristian Chivu and Piero Ausilio in Capri dominated talk of renewals and strategy.

Abroad, the big clubs are active. Real Madrid have sealed the arrival of Marcos Cucurella from Chelsea, a reinforcement on the left flank for José Mourinho's side. Barcelona reply with a double attacking move: a deal is done for Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, and the negotiation for Bernardo Silva, on his way out of Manchester City, is well advanced.

Serie A also wrapped up several secondary deals. Atalanta confirmed Maurizio Sarri as manager — he signed at Zingonia — and added midfielder Musah from Milan; Genoa welcomed Colombo from Milan and Marcelo Vaz from Roma, while Lazio completed the signing of Matteo Pedraza from Villarreal. On the other benches, besides Amorim and Sarri, Torino restart with Ignazio Abate and Bologna are closing in on Domenico Tedesco. Rounding out the day were the departures of André Silva, from Elche to Porto, and Balogh, from Parma to Kocaelispor.
