Transfers July 7: Gila to Milan, Insigne to Samp, Zaniolo to Udinese
Milan have closed the deal for Mario Gila, signed from Lazio for around 30 million euros, while Sampdoria have landed Lorenzo Insigne on a free transfer. In Serie A, Udinese have agreed terms with Nicolò Zaniolo and Atalanta are moving ever closer to Gianluca Gaetano.
The deal of the day belongs to Milan, who according to Sky Sport and Calciomercato.com have closed for Mario Gila. The Spanish defender leaves Lazio for around 30 million euros: in the operation, eurosport.it notes, 50% of the fee will go to Real Madrid, who had kept a sell-on percentage. There is a verbal agreement on personal terms and the "here we go" is now reality.
There is a surprise move from Sampdoria too, who have sealed the free-transfer arrival of Lorenzo Insigne. According to Calciomercato.com the winger is expected in Genoa tomorrow to sign a one-year contract with the option of a further season: an experienced addition to the blucerchiati project.
At Udinese it is done for Nicolò Zaniolo. Sky Sport reports a full agreement on a three-year deal worth 1.8 million euros per season, with the signing now awaited. The Friulians remain among the most active clubs on the market: in recent days they made Chakvetadze official from Watford and settled the arrival of Unai Gomez, due for his medical.
Atalanta are no less busy: according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Dea have reached a definitive agreement with Cagliari for Gianluca Gaetano, with full accord on wages and only the bonuses still to be fine-tuned. Fiorentina, meanwhile, have brought Dragusin to Italy for his medical, as reported by Sky Sport.
On the boardroom front, Juventus have officially appointed Frederic Massara as their new Chief Football Officer. Among the deals still open, Milan are tracking young winger Konstantinos Karetsas — much will depend on Leão's exit — while Torino are weighing up two goalkeeping options, Lucas Perri of Leeds and Aaron Ramsdale of Southampton. Fiorentina, for their part, have entered the race for Victor Valdepeñas, also followed by Bologna.
Abroad, the market involving Italian clubs stays hot. De Zerbi's Tottenham have made Sandro Tonali official in a 116-million-euro operation, as reported by eurosport.it, while Real Madrid have closed for Denzel Dumfries, who leaves Inter after five seasons. The Nerazzurri themselves, busy with outgoings, remain alert to incomings as well.
