Lautaro sinks Napoli, Juve-Milan awaits today

Serie A's third round has already delivered drama. At San Siro Inter came from behind to beat Napoli 3-2, with Lautaro Martinez scoring the decisive late goal (ANSA, Gazzetta dello Sport); earlier Roma edged Atalanta 2-1 thanks to Hermoso and Soule in stoppage time, staying on maximum points (RomaToday, Sky Sport), while Torino came back to win 2-1 at Fiorentina (Gazzetta dello Sport). In the Premier League Manchester City beat Coventry 1-0, De Zerbi's Tottenham took their first point (0-0 at Nottingham, ANSA) and Crystal Palace won 3-2 at Fulham. In the Bundesliga there were away wins for Dortmund (3-2 at Hoffenheim) and Elversberg (4-3 at Moenchengladbach), a 4-0 rout by Leverkusen over Union Berlin and a 0-0 for Bayern; in Ligue 1 Brest won 2-1 at Le Havre and Lorient stunned Lens 1-0.

The morning's talking point is Fiorentina's bench: after the loss to Torino the Viola are still pointless and Grosso is under pressure, though the coach played down talk of resignation ("Never thought about it", Tuttosport) while Gazzetta dello Sport writes of a "Grosso problem". On the other side Gasperini was all smiles, hailing after Roma-Atalanta "a win that matters" and the sign of a Roma that "always believes" (ANSA). There was also room for Chivu, for whom Inter-Napoli was "an advert for Italian football" (ANSA); meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport reports that Italy are already weighing up their squad list, with Romano and Tresoldi among the names.

Lunch opens onto a packed afternoon. In Serie A it starts at 15:00 with Parma-Monza and Frosinone-Venezia, at 18:00 comes Bologna-Sassuolo and at 20:45 the Juventus-Milan showdown closes Sunday (Italian time). In the Premier League the spotlight is on Everton-Manchester United at 15:00 and the London derby Arsenal-Chelsea at 17:30. In the Bundesliga HSV-Mainz (15:30) and Eintracht Frankfurt-Augsburg (17:30); in Ligue 1 a grand finale with Marseille-Paris FC at 20:45, after Troyes-Strasbourg (15:00) and Angers-Rennes (17:15).

The tables tell of a two-speed start. In Serie A Roma and Inter lead on maximum points (9 from three games), with the Giallorossi first on goal difference and Donyell Malen already top scorer on 5; Fiorentina, by contrast, are still on zero. In the Premier League Manchester City are flying (9), with surprise package Hull City right behind (7). In LaLiga Barcelona and Real Madrid are level on 9, but the Blancos have already suffered their first defeat (1-0 to Betis, ANSA), while in Ligue 1 Monaco lead with a perfect record.
