Tonali joins Tottenham for €115m as Inter reshape their squad

Tottenham have made Sandro Tonali official, signing the Italy midfielder from Newcastle for €115m plus bonuses in the standout move of a frantic transfer day. In Serie A, Inter accelerate their sales, Milan land the Mateta–Gonçalo Ramos double and Juventus close in on Dibu Martínez.

The deal of the day comes from the Premier League: Sandro Tonali is a new Tottenham player, with the club paying Newcastle €115m plus bonuses for the Italy midfielder, as reported by Calciomercato.com. Also in England, Manchester United have confirmed Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and are now waiting on medical guarantees over Éderson before pressing ahead, while Sunderland strengthen with Jobe Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund and Granit Xhaka.

At Inter it is time for a revolution. The Nerazzurri are letting several big names go: Denzel Dumfries is heading to Real Madrid and Stefan de Vrij to Panathinaikos, while Yann Sommer, Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian are also leaving Milan. Coming in, the club is closing on Youssef Khalaili, expected from Union Saint-Gilloise after seeing off the competition.

Milan respond with a heavyweight attacking double: the arrivals of Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace and Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain are official. In defence the Rossoneri are a step away from Mario Gila from Lazio, while on the way out Samuel Chukwueze joins Fulham, Musah moves to Atalanta and Noah Okafor is close to Leeds.

Juventus are also building: they have landed young forward Ekhator from Genoa and moved decisively for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano 'Dibu' Martínez. Roma, by contrast, face major departures: Paulo Dybala is on the brink of Boca Juniors and Lorenzo Pellegrini of Besiktas, while Marash Kumbulla leaves for Mallorca; incoming, the Giallorossi are negotiating winger Bryan Zaragoza from Bayern.

The rest of Serie A is busy too. Lazio bank the sales of Matías Vecino to Celta Vigo, Cristian Mandas to Bournemouth and Vedat Muriqi to Mallorca, and welcome full-back Pedraza from Villarreal. Atalanta add Musah and Gianluca Gaetano from Cagliari, Fiorentina bring Radu Drăgușin back to Italy from Tottenham, Udinese wrap up Giorgi Chakvetadze from Watford and Unai Gómez from Athletic Club, and Como welcome Luis Milla from Getafe. At Napoli, forward Lucca arrives while speculation lingers over the future of captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, with Aurelio De Laurentiis speaking out on the club's market plans.

In La Liga, Real Madrid — beyond cashing in on Dumfries — free up space at the back with the departure of Antonio Rüdiger, while Atlético Madrid are on a tear: after signing Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen, the Colchoneros are closing on Hjulmand of Sporting CP and Kang-in Lee from PSG. All of this as the World Cup reaches the knockout stage — with England edging Mexico 3-2 — and Neymar announces his retirement from the Brazil national team: the summer window, across Serie A, La Liga and the Premier League, is now in full swing.
