Cancelo to Barcelona, Sutalo to Lazio: a day of official deals
Thursday 20 August was busy across Serie A, La Liga and the Premier League. Joao Cancelo is officially a Barcelona player, Lazio close in on Josip Sutalo and Milan reject Galatasaray's bid for Rafael Leao.
The headline comes from La Liga: Joao Cancelo is officially a new Barcelona player. As confirmed by Calciomercato.com and Gianluca Di Marzio, the Portuguese full-back joined as a free agent after terminating his previous contract and has signed with the Catalans until 2029.
It was a busy day at Lazio too. According to Calciomercato.com, the "here we go" has arrived for Josip Sutalo: an agreement was reached with Ajax for a paid loan worth 3 million euros with an option to buy, set at 7.5 million according to Di Marzio. The arrival of Bamba Dieng, however, has collapsed: after his medical he will not sign for the club due to the test results. Calciomercato.com also reports that Alvaro Morata was offered to Lazio and Genoa, but for now neither move is viable.
On the Milan front, Di Marzio reports that Galatasaray's offer for Rafael Leao was rejected by the Rossoneri, with the Portuguese valued at 60 million euros. Milan have also reached an agreement in principle with Como for Samuele Ricci, on loan with an option to buy, and have finalized the signing of Diego Moreira from Strasbourg. At Inter, again according to Di Marzio, the Nerazzurri and Liverpool have reached an agreement for Curtis Jones on a five-year contract worth 3.5 million net; Barcelona, meanwhile, have made no offer for Lautaro Martinez, considered not for sale.
There was movement among the other Serie A clubs. Como are closing in on Willy Kambwala, a 2004-born centre-back from Villarreal (Calciomercato.com). Bologna have made official the contract extension of Riccardo Orsolini until 2031 and are in advanced talks for Nathan Gassama, a defender from Baltika. Napoli, Di Marzio reports, have finalized the arrival of Favasuli from Catanzaro on a 1 million loan and are also scouting Zirkzee and Jackson alongside Gabriel Jesus for their attack. Fiorentina, meanwhile, are working on Ernest Poku of Bayer Leverkusen.
Roma, according to Calciomercato.com, have decided to focus elsewhere, cooling their interest in Cacciamani and Fofana, while Di Marzio reports the arrival of Rodrigo Mora from Porto as finalized. Abroad, Besiktas have made a double offer for Frosinone's Fares Ghedjemis (12 million plus bonuses).
On the international market, the official deals gathered by Di Marzio stand out: Tijjani Reijnders has joined Al Qadsiah for 51 million pounds, while Aston Villa have confirmed the signings of Matteo Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid for 21.4 million pounds and of Zion Suzuki from Parma.
