Inter perfect, Fiorentina in deep crisis

In Serie A, Fiorentina were pegged back and beaten 1-2 at home by Torino in the afternoon, while at 18:00 Inter edged Napoli 3-2 in the San Siro big match. In the Premier League most of matchday three was played: Manchester City beat Coventry 1-0, Tottenham took their first point in a 0-0 at Nottingham, while Newcastle-Bournemouth (2-2), Brighton-Leeds (1-1), Brentford-Sunderland (1-1) and Fulham-Crystal Palace (2-3) completed the picture. In the Bundesliga, Leverkusen thrashed Union Berlin 4-0, Dortmund won 3-2 at Hoffenheim, Werder Bremen beat Leipzig 3-1, Elversberg won 4-3 at Gladbach and Freiburg won 1-0 at Paderborn. In Ligue 1, Lorient sprang a 0-1 surprise at Lens.

In the table, Inter stay on maximum points, top with 9 after three wins, ahead of Como (7). Fiorentina are bottom and still on zero after three defeats, with the league's worst goal difference, while Napoli slip to 3 points. In the Premier League, Manchester City lead with 9 points, in Ligue 1 Monaco top the table on maximum points, and in the Bundesliga, pending the late game, Freiburg, Dortmund and Elversberg share the lead on 6. LaLiga does not play this round: Barcelona, Real Madrid and Betis remain level on 9 points, with the next round from 16 September.
