Roma perfect at the top, Como climb to second

Roma win 2-0 in Turin and stay alone at the top of Serie A on 12 points, while Como beat Parma 2-1. Tonight Inter-Udinese, Leeds-Newcastle and Villarreal-Betis close out Monday.

Monday's round-four action in Serie A produced two results at 18:30 local time. In Turin, Roma beat Torino 2-0: Malen broke the deadlock in the 40th minute and Pisilli sealed it in the 92nd, according to Calciomercato.com and Corriere dello Sport. In Como, the hosts beat Parma 2-1: they led 1-0 at half-time through J. Ramon's 23rd-minute goal, Kaiki doubled the lead and Parma pulled one back to set the final score (Calciomercato.com).

In the table, Gasperini's Roma are the only side with a perfect record: four wins, 12 points, 12 goals scored and just one conceded. Behind them Como move up to 10 points, level with Lazio, and remain unbeaten. Torino stay on 3 points in 14th, while Parma are still on one point at the bottom alongside Bologna, Monza and Genoa; Venezia are last with none. Malen leads the scoring chart with 6 goals, ahead of Frosinone's Raimondo on 4; according to Corriere dello Sport the Dutchman has matched a Totti record in Roma's history.

Off the pitch, the day opened with the Daniel Maldini case. In the morning Calciomercato.com reported a positive breath test and a positive drug pre-test; shortly afterwards Cagliari said in a club statement that the toxicology tests came back negative and the player was available again, while Maldini himself published the results on social media (ANSA Calcio, eurosport.it, DAZN). Good news at Udinese for Piotrowski: the club announced that his cardiac ablation procedure was successful (Corriere dello Sport).

Among the other stories, Sassuolo are still talking about last night's 3-2 win over Juventus, decided in the 94th minute by former Juve player Adzic: president Carnevali commented on the match and, on the subject of coaches, said changing one is "not in my spirit" (ANSA Calcio, Tuttosport). In Naples, according to NapoliCalcioNews.it, Meret and Marianucci are close to returning. The only official transfer of the day came abroad: Brozovic signed a one-year contract with Al-Sadd (Calciomercato.com). The renewed contacts between Lazio and Icardi reported by Sky Sport and Corriere dello Sport remain rumours.

The evening is still under way. At San Siro, Inter-Udinese, which kicked off at 20:45, was in progress at the latest update of our match data: Chivu picked Thuram and Pio up front with Dimarco on the bench (eurosport.it, La Gazzetta dello Sport). At 21:00 Leeds-Newcastle in the Premier League and Villarreal-Betis in La Liga's fifth round kicked off, and they too are in progress. Results and match reports in the post-match round-up.
