Nico Paz stays at Como: now official, 60m to Real Madrid
Now it's official: Real Madrid have issued a statement confirming Nico Paz stays at Como on a permanent deal, in an operation worth around €60m reported by Sky Sport and Calciomercato.com. The Argentine has already spoken — «The story continues! See you at the Sinigaglia» — with the Blancos keeping a new buy-back clause and Inter beaten to it.
A merry-go-round of clauses. First Real Madrid enforced their buy-back, taking Nico Paz back for just €9m as agreed, a detail reported by Fabrizio Romano. But Como did not give up and went on the offensive to bring the Argentine back to the lake and keep him for another season.
The turning point had already come in recent days: in the morning Calciomercato.com reported Como were ready to consider a €60m operation, shortly afterwards came the «NICO PAZ - COMO HERE WE GO» and the agreement with Real for a permanent transfer, an account also confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
Now the formal closure. As reported by Sky Sport and Calciomercato.com, Real Madrid have issued an official statement: Nico Paz stays at Como. The details of the Blancos' buy-back are confirmed, and the player's first words have arrived too — «The story continues! See you at the Sinigaglia» — a message aimed straight at the Como fans.
The forward's father had also helped seal the choice, telling Calciomercato.com: «He wanted to stay at Como. This is the best option for him». Confirmation of the player's desire to give continuity to his journey on the lake, the man around whom Cesc Fabregas wants to build an ambitious side after an excellent season.
One sword of Damocles remains, though: according to Fabrizio Romano, in a year's time Real Madrid will be able to trigger a new buy-back, set at €80m. Como are working to ensure that clause is valid only in next summer's window, so as to keep the player for at least the full season.
Inter were lurking in the background for the Argentine, as reported by Sky Sport and Gazzetta dello Sport, but Como's speed steered everything towards the lake; Gazzetta dello Sport described a €60m investment that, on financial fair play, will commit the club, which must fall back within the parameters from 2027. For now only the signature remains to fully close the matter: Nico Paz's present and near future still speak the language of Como.
