Napoli agree terms with Gila; Lucca floated in Lazio talks
Napoli are pushing for Mario Gila and, according to Sky Sport, have already agreed personal terms with the Lazio defender on a five-year contract. The clubs still have to find common ground: ANSA reports a possible swap involving Lorenzo Lucca, while Lazio, tied to a break-even market, keep holding firm on the price.
The breakthrough came on the personal-terms front. Sky Sport writes of an agreement between Napoli and Gila «for a 5-year contract», with «a possible makeweight» to complete the deal: it is the most advanced signal in a negotiation the Naples club has been pursuing for weeks.
The first concrete contacts date back to mid-June, when, again according to Sky Sport, «Napoli met Gila's agent» to set up the talks. A few days later the same broadcaster reported the defender as «closer», in parallel with the club sorting out its bench through the «three-year deal for Allegri».
The obstacle, more than the fee itself, is Lazio's stance. Corriere dello Sport reported the «official statement» with which the club confirmed a «break-even» market, a line the Roman side is trying to avoid in «a race against time». Against that backdrop SNAI sportnews spoke openly of a Lazio that «is blocking Gila», calling it «the knot of the negotiation».
To untie it, the two clubs are said to be weighing a player makeweight. ANSA reports that «Napoli and Lazio are considering a Gila-Lucca swap», with the Napoli striker brought into the conversation; napolicalcionews.it adds that Napoli are pushing precisely through «possible makeweights to lower Lazio's asking price».
The latest news confirms Napoli's pressure: Quotidiano Sportivo notes «Napoli pressing for Gila», and the day's final update still speaks of a deal in progress. What is missing, in practice, is the agreement between the clubs: the deal with the player is reported as done, but official figures and the final formula, a straight swap or a cash adjustment, have not yet emerged. Lazio's green light, conditioned by their balance-sheet needs, remains the last piece.
