Khalaili to Inter stalls: medical reportedly not passed

Anan Khalaili's move to Inter has hit a sharp snag: according to Tuttosport the medical was not deemed satisfactory, while ANSA reports a «CONI stop» on the deal. After the roughly €25 million agreement with Union Saint-Gilloise and his arrival in Milan, the signing meant to replace Dumfries is now in the balance, with Inter again weighing the Guéla Doué alternative.

The deal had looked all but done. On 9 July Calciomercato.com had certified it with the classic «Anan Khalaili - Inter, here we go», reporting a full agreement with Union Saint-Gilloise worth around €25 million; in the following days, as shown by Sky Sport and reported by Il Riformista, the player had arrived in Milan for his medical and signature.

The Israeli had been identified as the replacement for Denzel Dumfries, who joined Real Madrid, on the right flank of Chivu's Inter, who had already confirmed goalkeeper Ivan Provedel from Lazio. Eurosport had presented him as the «right-sided arrow» chosen to inherit the Dutchman's role.

The turn for the worse came around 12 July: according to Tuttosport the operation suffered a «sharp halt», with the medical reportedly not proving satisfactory. On the same matter ANSA spoke of a «CONI stop» on the transfer, a factor that further complicates closing the deal.

The slowdown brought the alternatives back into play. La Gazzetta dello Sport revived the name of Guéla Doué, the Strasbourg full-back long tracked by Inter and described as a profile once close to Milan; at the same time Tuttosport reports a «derby with Milan» for a transfer target.

As things stand, Khalaili's move to Inter can no longer be considered done: the understanding with Union Saint-Gilloise remains on the table, but the outcome of the medical and the stop reported by ANSA leave the official announcement in limbo. No definitive statement has come from either club; in the coming hours Inter will have to decide whether to wait or turn decisively to an alternative.
