Khalaili to Inter, it's done: €25m to Union Saint-Gilloise

Inter have wrapped up the signing of Anan Khalaili: the Israeli right-sided player is arriving from Union Saint-Gilloise in a deal worth around €25 million, according to Calciomercato.com's «here we go». On Friday morning the player landed in Milan for his medical, as shown in footage from Sky Sport.

With Denzel Dumfries having officially joined Real Madrid in recent days (Sky Sport, Tuttosport), Inter set about finding a new right-sided player. As reported by Il Fatto Quotidiano, the choice fell on Anan Khalaili: the Israeli is described as Dumfries' replacement on the right flank.

In recent days Khalaili's name had sparked a genuine «transfer-market derby» between Como and Inter, as Eurosport put it while presenting the right-back coveted by both clubs. Inter then made their move with an offer, reported by Virgilio Sport, for a player who, according to Il Fatto Quotidiano, had already given Atalanta trouble in the Champions League.

The negotiation was not without alternative options: Eurosport had mentioned a possible switch by Inter to Strasbourg's Guéla Doué. Calciomercato.com, however, made clear that the number-one target remained Khalaili, with the Frenchman merely an alternative.

The breakthrough came on 9 July: Calciomercato.com certified the deal with its classic «Anan Khalaili - Inter, here we go», reporting a full agreement with Union Saint-Gilloise on the basis of around €25 million. The closing was then picked up by ANSA («Inter close for Khalaili»), by Corriere della Sera and by Fanpage, which listed it among the day's deals.

The move is part of the incoming business of Chivu's Inter, who had already confirmed goalkeeper Ivan Provedel after his arrival from Lazio. It is precisely after Provedel and Khalaili, as the Gazzetta dello Sport pointed out, that the Nerazzurri are planning their next moves of the window.

In sporting terms the deal is considered done: on the morning of Friday 10 July Khalaili arrived in Milan, with Sky Sport documenting his arrival. The medical and the signature on the contract remain to be completed before the official announcement; for now the two clubs have not disclosed all the figures or the length of the agreement.
