The move stems from Vicario's situation in London. About three weeks ago Goal.com reported that the goalkeeper had slipped to third choice at Tottenham, dropped by De Zerbi: a situation that turned him into a market opportunity for the Italian clubs, Juventus and Napoli first among them.

The first concrete signal towards Turin came in mid-August. On the 14th, Gazzetta dello Sport wrote that Vicario had opened the door to Juventus, explaining why a short-term, «use-and-return» type of operation could also suit the player, eager to be a first-choice again.
